Meftaur is the Chief Operating Officer of Zarou.

Previously, he was the President & CEO of AES Jordan, responsible for the ~$700m portfolio of the AES, Mitsui & Nebras Power consortium in Jordan (generating ~20% of the country’s electricity at the time). During his 11 years in Jordan, he successfully developed, financed, constructed and operated three projects of total ~700MW capacity (the 400MW Amman East CCGT Project, the 241MW IPP4 CCGT project and a 52MW solar project). The assets were built and operated for 11 years without LTI (Lost-time incidents), demonstrating a focus on Environment, Health and Safety (EHS).

Meftaur previously served as the Country Director of O&M Solutions Limited (multinational power sector services) and held different senior management roles at AES. He also worked at Globeleq’s (a subsidiary of CDC Group, the UK’s development finance institution) projects in Bangladesh – the 450MW Meghnaghat CCGT and the 360MW Haripur CCGT. Prior to that, he worked at the British Oxygen Company and at Nestle.

Meftaur has won numerous awards – notable among these are the IFC best PPP award for EMEA region, AES Corporation Founder Award, Power Magazine Award and several British Safety Awards.

Meftaur has a BSc in Chemical Engineering and attended the Leadership Program at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
